Version 3.0 von OpenOffice.org erhältlich
Bereits am Wochenende sind auf den ersten Mirror-Servern die Download-Files mit der aktuellen 3.0-Version von OpenOffice.org erschienen, golem hat die neue Version schon getestet. Auf den offiziellen Seiten wird zwar noch die Vorgänger-Version angeboten, das sollte sich aber im Laufe des Tages ändern.
Ich habe mir die neue Version gleich installiert und finde sie auf den ersten Blick sehr gelungen. Interessant aber noch deutlich Beta ist Suns PDF-Erweiterung, mit der bestehende PDF-Dateien importiert und editiert werden können. Bei einem Test hat es einige Formatierungen verspult, aber den Ansatz finde ich gut.

Neben der aktuellsten deutschen OpenOffice.org Version 2.1 für den portablen und stationären Betrieb, wurde noch ein HTML Editor und eine XServer Version implementiert. Viele der restlichen Anwendungen wurden auf neue Releasestände gebracht.
Die Officebox24 Portable ist eine speziell für den mobilen Einsatz konfigurierte Software Distribution, die sich komplett auf mobilen Medien, wie beispielsweise einem USB Stick, einer SD Memory Card, einer externen Festplatte aber auch auf einem lokalen Computer ausführen lässt. Der Anwender behält immer seine gewohnte Office- und Anwendungsumgebung einschließlich Dokumentenordner, Lesezeichen und Einstellungen.
Die auf der CD befindlichen, über 700 MB Softwarekomponenten, decken die Bereiche Office, Grafik, Internet, Mail, Instant Messaging, Security- sowie Dateihandling ab und werden durch weitere hilfreiche Zusatztools und einem Einrichtungs- / Upgradeassistenten ergänzt. Die Distribution ist für den Betrieb ab Windows 2000 ausgelegt.

Neues Officebox24 Portable Release vor Fertigstellung
Nach dem Erscheinen des aktuellen OpenOffice.org Releases 2.1.0 in deutsch, steht ein neues Release der Officebox24 Portable vor der Fertigstellung.
Selbstverständlich wird dieses Release auch die neue OpenOffice.org Version enthalten. Zusätzlich werden noch weitere Anwendungen implementiert. Bevor diese Version auf den Markt kommt, sind allerdings noch ausgiebige Tests notwendig.

Das Projekt OpenOffice.org gibt heute die Verfügbarkeit der deutschsprachigen Version 2.1 der gleichnamigen Office-Suite bekannt. Die neue Version wartet mit zahlreichen neuen Funktionen auf.
So unterstützt Impress jetzt einen Mehrbildschirm-Modus, in dem Folien und Notizen auf getrennten Bildschirmen angezeigt werden können. Auch das Base-Modul hat Verbesserungen v.a. beim Zugriff auf Access-Datenbanken erfahren. Der beliebte Quickstarter ist nun auch als GTK-Applikation für Linux und kompatible Systeme verfügbar und in Calc wurde der HTML-Export überarbeitet. Daneben wurden fünf neue Lokalisierungen in OpenOffice.org aufgenommen sowie Lokalisierungsfehler behoben und Inkonsistenzen bei den Tastenkürzeln beseitigt. Insbesondere für Entwickler dürfte interessant sein, dass die Extensions (ehemals Packages) jetzt auch Versionsinformationen beinhalten können.
