Neue Version 2.1 von OpenOffice.org in deutscher Sprache erschienen
Das Projekt OpenOffice.org gibt heute die Verfügbarkeit der deutschsprachigen Version 2.1 der gleichnamigen Office-Suite bekannt. Die neue Version wartet mit zahlreichen neuen Funktionen auf.
So unterstützt Impress jetzt einen Mehrbildschirm-Modus, in dem Folien und Notizen auf getrennten Bildschirmen angezeigt werden können. Auch das Base-Modul hat Verbesserungen v.a. beim Zugriff auf Access-Datenbanken erfahren. Der beliebte Quickstarter ist nun auch als GTK-Applikation für Linux und kompatible Systeme verfügbar und in Calc wurde der HTML-Export überarbeitet. Daneben wurden fünf neue Lokalisierungen in OpenOffice.org aufgenommen sowie Lokalisierungsfehler behoben und Inkonsistenzen bei den Tastenkürzeln beseitigt. Insbesondere für Entwickler dürfte interessant sein, dass die Extensions (ehemals Packages) jetzt auch Versionsinformationen beinhalten können. So können Updates von Packages einfacher verwaltet werden.
In der Version 2.1 wurde die Möglichkeit zum Online-Update nochmals erweitert. Standardmäßig sucht OpenOffice.org jetzt auch automatisch in regelmäßigen Abständen nach einer neuen Version. Selbstverständlich ist diese Funktion auch jederzeit deaktivierbar und die Nutzer werden beim ersten Programmstart auf diese Option hingewiesen.
Kurz nach dem Erscheinen der neuen Version 2.1 wird auch eine neue Version der PrOOo-Box, einer Zusammenstellung von OpenOffice.org mit zahlreichen Schriften, Vorlagen und Hilfsprogrammen auf einer CD, bereitstehen.
